Introduction
Historic Norfolk is a charity that seeks to preserve Norfolk’s built heritage. We do this by being:
-
A custodian for important buildings where no independent economic and sustainable use exists.
-
A catalyst for building conservation initiatives, working in partnership with others.
-
A champion for conservation through campaigning, fundraising and raising public awareness of its work.
Historic Norfolk employs and works with adults. It does not work directly with children or vulnerable adults. However, events and activities that include children or vulnerable adults may take place in some of our properties, namely, Waxham Barn, Beckets Chapel and Oulton Chapel. At Waxham Barn, weddings and other events are managed, under an agreement, by The Playground Group Ltd and the café is sub-let to tenants the North Shore Café Co. At Oulton Chapel, Historic Norfolk hires out the building for occasional use, whilst the burial ground is managed by agents Ivan Fisher Independent Funeral Homes. At Becket’s Chapel in Wymondham, the building is let to Wymondham Arts from May to October and is available to hire at other times to other organisations and individuals.
We require all the organisations to have their own safeguarding policies in place. Individual hirers where children, young people and at-risk adults are in attendance, should also have their own safeguarding policies. At minimum every hirer must sign a declaration to abide by this safeguarding policy.
