Protecting Norfolk's built heritage
Thurton Lodges
Historic Norfolk is a charity that protects and promotes the built heritage of Norfolk

We seek to achieve this by being:

  • A CATALYST for building conservation initiatives, working in partnership with others

  • A CHAMPION for conservation through campaigning, fundraising and raising public awareness of our work

  • A CUSTODIAN for important buildings where no independent economic and sustainable use exists

Historic Norfolk, established in 1977 as the Norfolk Historic Buildings Trust, has been instrumental in saving over 20 historic buildings that might otherwise have been lost.

Today we manage five properties:

Waxham Great Barn, Oulton Chapel and Burial Ground, Becket's Chapel in Wymondham, Thurton Lodges and Homersfield Bridge. You can find out more about each of these on the Properties page.

We are entirely self-financing and the charity is managed by an active volunteer board of trustees with one part-time employee.
